Founded: 1984

Bobby Jimmy aka Russ Parr was a character created by Russ Parr when he was the morning man on the legendary 1580 KDAY in Los Angeles Ca. in 1984. Bobby Jimmy initially started out as just a joke but one day the Egyptian Lover called and said "Hey man Bobby should do a record!!" So Russ Parr went into the studio and did the first single "We like ugly Women" on his own Label Rapsur, which sold over 50,000 copies. After Russ Parr received his first royalty check he realized that these song parodies could make some money.
Then came the hit record Big Butt a parody of Whodini's "Big Mouth". Later Bobby Jimmy would sell well over 600,000 records. Bobby Jimmy has retired but don't be surprised if he makes a resurgence.
Many Guest Appereances, Co-Productions and Cooperations were done on Rapsur like:
>Arabian Prince made his Deput on this Label.
>Egypt did the Drum Program for the 1.st Release Ugly Women.
>Daniel Sofer did the Arrangement of Digital Electronic Funk.
>DJ Juan G loaned his 808 for the Release of Big Butt.
>Dr. Dre appeared on Arabian Prince´s Release Innovator.
Bobby Jimmy and the Critters Releases were mostly persiflages, like Egypt´s Girls (Sheeps), Rodney O´s Everlasting Bass (Overlapping Waist) & their successfullest release Roaches
(Rumors by Timex Social Club). In 1985 Bobby Jimmy & the Critters signed to Don Mc Millian´s label Macola Records untill 1987.

Bobby Jimmy´s big hit "Roaches", which was a comedy version of "Timex Social Club - Rumors" were directed by Neal Brown, a resident of Burbank, California who also did the video to L.A. Dream Team´s Nursery Rhymes. In the background you can see Arabian Prince and General Jeff dancing. |
