The West Coast Crew originated in 1983 in Los Angeles California. While writing arranging, performing, and co-producing their own material, the West Coast Crew expresses themselves in a unique style of rap music. First they signed with "Jam Power" Records and released a Promotion EP which featured the Tracks "We really like to Rock" and "Jealous People". In 1984 they signed to the "KMA" Label and released the 12" Single "We are the crew" bw "Jelaous People". Several West Coast Classics followed, like "D.O.A." or "Jail Bait" all puplished on the "KMA" Label.
Lemon Lime born 1963 began his musical carreer at the age of 10 by writing lyrics and performing in various talent shows and clubs. By the age of 16 he had his own dance production. The popularity of this production and his 1st Release "Hollyweird Game" on "Jam Power" Records led to the formation of the West Coast Crew.
D-Rock born 1964 started his career at 7 years old writing poetry and singing in churches in his home town Monroe, Louisana. Upon turning 13 his family moved to Los Angeles where he formed his own band called "D and the Rockers". At age 15 he joined up with "Lemon Lime Productions" which ultimately led to the West Coast Crew.
Mr. J born 1964 began writing poetry at age 6. By the age of 11 he had joined the Clansville Crew. With this band he began performing at Junior Hig and Elementary Schools in Los Angeles. At age 14 he met and joined D-Rock and Lemon Lime to later become the West Coast Crew.
Cassonova Malone born 1965 began his music career at age 4, playing the drums in church. At age 6 he was introduced to the piano by his mother, from there he began piecing music together. At age 12, he began exploring different instruments with Mr. J soon after they met up with Lemon Lime and the rest to become the West Coast Crew.
J-Bone born 1964 started his career at age 2 singing in churches all over his home town of Chicago. At 8, he began to write his own songs and later moved to California with his brother. By the time he was 11 he met up with D-Rock and Lemon Lime and began making music for the West Coast Crew.
The Crew has been exposed to various cross-over audiences on the west coast. They have performed with artists such as: Roger Clayton, Kopper, Pennye Ford, Chrystal, and Naughty Naughty. Together they released several West Coast Classics like "We are the crew", "Jelaous People" or "Jail Bait" on the "KMA" Label.
